[specimen] jack-keyboard and specimen jack-midi port

hallo list, i am experiencing some strange behavior here.
i grabbed jack-keyboard from here:

now the keyboard works excellent with zynjacku driving the zyn synth, 
but if i connect it to the specimen jack-midi port, the connection is 
done (visually in qjackctl) but specimen does not play any sound out.

could someone please try to reproduce, here specimen is from svn.
