I apologise that I didn't actually use your patch, but I did fix this issue 
along with other similar ones today (revs 57 through 61). Specimen will now 
register the user-supplied instance name with JACK, LASH, and ALSA Sequencer, 
as well as display it in the window title. If none is supplied "specimen" is 
used as a default.
